The Integrated Whole

For those of you who have read my Trilogy, or those who know what I was doing, here is an update on how I am progressing.

Perhaps 'progressing' is not the correct word. 'Coping' might be more accurate.

Mindfulness of Self, the first book covers tuning in to your own body and your thoughts. Very new age and goes against the grain for me. However, it helped me manage my travel stress anxiety, which is now not so great a concern. Stunningly, it has enhanced my normal self too. This is not exactly as good as it sounds. At some moments I feel particularly detached from reality, mentally. This is where the physical mindfulness exercises help tremendously, which ought to be obvious. This has helped but I still get the sensation of being far too awake or far too conscious. Which I just accept.

Now I am not claiming to be a superhuman but the 'enhanced' me has come into being by following the guidance of book one. This is a difficult concept to believe unless you have spent nearly a year being mindful and experienced it for yourself but let me give you an example. Imagine a private road where you can manage to hit 60mph a couple of times over the course of five miles. The 'enhanced' version of you can go no faster but can now maintain 60mph over most of the route.

The owner of the company I work at once remarked that sometimes I manage to operate at a level far beyond what he considers to be my 'normal' operating range. He said that if only I could be depended upon to basically 'perform on demand' I would be very valuable. Now, he can say whatever he pleases but that comment has stayed with me. I wrote the Trilogy of books whilst in this 'enhanced' state. The 'enhanced' state is now my normal state. It is somewhat disorientating.

So, what is this enhanced state? Could you achieve it too? Well, my thoughts are now my own. My thoughts are well disciplined. Stress and worry have dissolved to nothing. This in and of itself is fantastic. A colleague asked me a question, I answered, 'I am employed to make decisions about how best to deploy company resources to the greatest effect.' He thought that was an excellent phrase and one to remember. You can use it whenever a line manager asks why you haven't completed a task. Obviously, the enhanced me would never be asked such a question. Or simply answer it with silence, before asking my own question. That, dear readers, is why stress and worry have gone from work. I am simply doing my best with the resources at my disposal. If asked can I do it better, the answer is yes, in time.

My 'enhanced' self can concentrate or perhaps focus is a better word for as long as I choose to. I notice as soon as my mind drifts and I can choose to let it or re-focus on the task I have set myself. The key word here is choice. If you are unable to monitor your thoughts in real-time then you cannot make the choices you wish to make. This is how worry is vanquished. Worrying is where you have completely lost your ability to choose how to direct your mind. Something may concern you and you may choose to spend some time pondering the issue or not. This is power. A great power. A superhuman power, over yourself.

That is the discipline you gain over your mind and you get a similar connection to your own body. Currently I am typing stood up with discomfort in my shoulders, back and calf muscles. I simply notice this and change position. All simple stuff but crucially important. I am now sitting. Again the increased connection to your physical body can be overwhelming. As is the 'enhancement' of your own senses. I doubt my senses have improved but my connection to them has. Smells, taste and touch feel far too 'real'. Again, this is disorienting, particularly with all the other enhancements.

I hadn't expected any of this. If you choose to travel the same path, I hope that you enjoy and appreciate the transitions in awareness. Rather than wonder if you are having a mental breakdown or a brain tumour or some such like. Not that I worried but I wouldn't have been surprised either.

What next? Well, I shall carry on practicing the mindful behaviours. Which isn't particularly difficult as I do them naturally and I am happy to schedule in the more formal mindfulness sessions. What comes next isn't particularly clear. So, no change there then.

The one change I have deliberately avoided mentioning is my enhanced connection to the universe and to the things it is made up of, such as people. I do expect this connection to strengthen. I will quickly explain it, it is a basic joy and love of, well to be blunt, everything.

For those who do not believe me, you are right.

For those who do or who want to believe me, practice being a mindful being and you will be following my path to becoming a mindful being. I see no reason for you to fail. There is no pass and there is no fail. You will simply become a better version of you. The basic logic is sound. How could you not become a better version of yourself if you practice being a better version of yourself? Nothing could be more obvious. For those who do not believe, why?

I hope I am not preaching at you. I am not even trying to educate you or teach you how to live or what to believe. I am simply stating the obvious, become a better you by practicing being a better you. I am truly amazed at how much I enjoy being a better version of me but far more importantly, how much I enjoy simply being (alive).

The title, the integrated whole has two meanings.

1) Your monkey, human and computer simply work together - mostly :-)
2) We are all of the universe, we are not simply just in it.

You take care, buy the books, become a mindful being and have your friends join you in enjoying life, as best you can. It is NOT a competition

If you don't believe me, which part of you made the decision? (That, my friend, is a trivial example of the level of awareness I enjoy.)

As always, take care

Psychopaths vs Mindful Beings

First of all, psychopaths are incredibly useful. They will attempt things that very few 'normal' human beings ever would. Climb tall trees, discover continents, invent explosives, sit inside rockets and goad people into areas far outside of their personal comfort zones. Psychopaths are natures spoons for the soup of humanity.

However, having one (or more!) as a parent, sibling, co-worker, boss or partner can be challenging.

Generally, a psychopath will continually attempt to 'stir' up your emotions, hurt you and try and get your sympathy. They do this with ease. A 'normal' human being will find this emotional turmoil very draining. (A well disciplined psychopath will be far harder to spot.)

A Mindful Being has no such difficulties with psychopaths.

If you have read my books then you may well correctly conclude that a psychopath simply plays with your inner monkey. They do not realise they are doing it and wouldn't be bothered if they did know.

A Mindful Being practices engaging their humanity. Thus a psychopath cannot readily play with a well practiced Mindful Beings monkey.

However, a Mindful Being could choose to play with a psychopaths inner monkey. I wouldn't recommend doing this, too often, for ethical reasons and you will expose yourself to a potentially violent physical response.  (As Yoda said, 'do or do not. There is no try.)

A Mindful Being is a powerful being.

A Mindful Being has choices.

A Mindful Being is what everyone (except psychopaths) can choose to practice being.

It just takes a little effort. Time takes care of the rest.

If you still need a reason to practice being a Mindful Being, read the next sentence carefully and notice what I didn't write.

'Generally speaking, 'things' do not simply happen, to a Mindful Being.'

UK general election

Elections give us an illusion of choice and of control. Unfortunately, each of our votes is taken as us surrendering our own innate power to a tiny group of 'politicians'.

Whilst society grows, the dead weight of big government is felt but not realised. As governments grow ever larger then the burden becomes far more noticeable. The government reacts to this and points out various groups until the population choose the scapegoat. Sometimes, we blame jews, black people, gay people, disabled people, immigrants, communists, Russians or witches. The government are as keen to believe this as we are.

Voting is not choice and it is not power. Voting is merely an outlet for our anger when economies falter or for the masses to waste vast energies arguing amongst themselves. Voting and politics is merely a distraction. What are we being distracted from?

1) the population have the power, not politicians
2) the people have the wealth, not the banks

Politics is the art of illusion in appearing to control the people within its borders.

Banking is the illusion of appearing to have control of the nations wealth.

A mindful being understands this. Which is why our schools do not produce mindful beings. This is not a conspiracy theory. Teachers, doctors, politicians, accountants and bankers do not understand the 'unintended' consequences of their own beliefs. Each group believes fully in their own value to society, without ever realising the assumptions this society is based upon.

Money, is said to be the root of all evil.
In our society we generally all think that bank credit is money. Banks can create as much bank credit as we the people are prepared to borrow. The cost of creating this bank credit is effectively zero. However, paying the loan back requires effort. This asymmetry is hidden in plain sight. We can vote for whoever we like but the bank credit scam is never questioned. Thus our votes are useless as they change nothing. Each time we vote we are giving away our power to a control system that very few people are consciously aware of.

Voting is about as relevant as asking a four year old what their favourite colour is.

This is not a natural or healthy state of affairs.

It will not end well.

Current distractions are brexit, a general election and North Korea. Just before these distractions we had a US election, brexit and Russia. Before that, China, a global financial upset and gay marriages. Other key distractions were Bin Laden, Gadaffi, Hussein, WWII and the great depression. The distractions are coming in thick and fast.

So, what is it we are being distracted from?
We are being distracted from becoming Mindful Beings.

A mindful being fully realises the value of bank credit.
A mindful being truly realises the folly of large government
A mindful being understands what power and money is.
A mindful being is powerful
A mindful being self determines what they truly value.

A mindful being recognises truth.

The only choice a member of society is free to exercise is the choice to practise mindfulness of self, awareness of others and become sensitised to the demands of society.

Should a few percent of us choose to become mindful beings, society simply dissolves and we all live in a civilisation which is based upon creating ever more Mindful Beings. (Also known as Heaven on Earth, are you ready for that yet?)

You take care

PS When you are on the road to Hell and you see a fork in the road, please take it!

A wise woman has been in touch saying that we should choose forks over knives. Very wise and concise. My more 'wordy' version below.

A frightened human will always choose a knife because of imagined fears.
A happy and contented human would choose the fork, just out of interest.

Mindful Beings always have choices, which is why they are so powerful.

A brief guide to the books

To get the most from the books will take effort. You are being introduced to new ideas and concepts by someone who doesn't actually know you. I can do my part, as best I can. The rest is down to you.

You could read the book very quickly utilising your autopilot. You may well conclude that the book was short, simply written and adds nothing of value.

When reading novels and books, autopilot may be adequate. Articles involving new concepts and ideas need the human, within us, to read them.

To engage your human, you need to be actively decoding each sentence in an attempt to understand the concept or idea being presented. This takes effort but the reward is that you have understood the concept on your own terms. For example, I frequently use the word monkey. This may not be the correct word for you. Perhaps chimp or may be gorilla would be more appropriate. To understand a new idea or concept, you need to engage with it. Then simply discard or ammend it as you wish.

You might read a sentence or paragraph and then need a day or two pondering it. Or perhaps a brief nap.

These books should be considered to be generic and general. You must tailor it to best suit yourself. The books are not the ultimate in understanding ourselves and others. Just a general foundation.

You could do me an enormous favour and consider reading the books as good exercise for the human part of your brain, also known as the real you. Read slowly, take lots of naps and within your own imagination or even in reality, rewrite the book based upon how it should have been written for you.

Basically, I wrote the books to help me become a Mindful Being and you might need to do something similar.

The best review I could hope for is that, 'the book brought together three separate concepts, combining them as one. The author needs to develop this concept further.'

I will but I might not bother publishing.

You are the author of your own life, you might choose to develop and customise the concepts and ideas for yourself. You might even choose to publish.

The three books

Book one
Mindfulness of self
This book aims to give you an understanding of how and why your thoughts and emotions can, often, work against your own best interests.

Should you decide to follow and develop the ideas presented in this book, you will feel more confident, more relaxed and better able to deal with any new challenges you might set yourself

Book Two
Mindfulness of others
We use our enhanced abilities to build far more fulfilling relationships with friends and colleagues. As confidence increases, stress and anxiety diminish. This makes your world a far friendlier place.

Book Three
This, if written, is a very ambitious book. It will be pointless reading it without having understood and practiced the exercises given in book one.

Should you become a well practiced mindful being, you can take your proper place in the world. The one which is, ultimately, the most rewarding for you.

The ultimate me, is an author.
I need to expend a great deal more effort on understanding myself, understanding others and understanding the world, such that I can best position myself in the world, as an author. Once that is achieved, writing the books will only be a minor achievement.

Whether or not the books are widely read is down to the readers and not the writer. I will not be measuring my success with book sales. I will measure my success by how comfortable I am with calling myself an author when asked, 'what do you do?'.

It is also highly likely that I am already in the best possible place for me. I just haven't realised it or making the most of it.

Just remember that life is a gamble, one which we have all already won.

A confrontation with a cyclist

One of my facebook friends had a confrontation with a cyclist, his words not mine. He was still agitated many hours later. He was surprised by this as he thought he had better emotional control. He admits drinking alcohol but not that much.

Once you have read book one, you will be able to identify what has happened.

My facebook friend is declaring himself as a victim and the purpose of his post was to gain the support of his friends. Thus reinforcing his belief that he is a normal member of society and the cyclist was unduly angry.
Unfortunately, I replied by suggesting he read my book. If he does he will realise a great many things. He need not be a victim, he chose to be a victim. He chose to have a confrontation. He chose to be upset by it. Then he chose to try and rouse sympathy from his friends.

If you wonder why I state that he chose all these things then read book 1 of the trilogy. My friend will only feel that he chose to post the story on facebook. You may agree with him. After reading book one you will realise that you make a great many choices without being aware of them. Once you are aware, you can actually start leading the life you want to live rather than the one you are currently entangled in.

There is more. We are only distant facebook friends and he reacted to my comment, he called me a spammer. He was friendly enough but not exactly coherent as spammers send one message out to as many people as possible. They don't engage in one to one conversations. Anyway, he reacted this way as I had not given him any sympathy, which is what he wanted.

Book two covers other people extensively. Understanding book one will increase your understanding of yourself, dramatically. You can take this awareness as deep as you wish.

Book two gives you a far greater insight into other people. In this instance, I could have supplied my facebook friend with the reassurance he craved. Instead, I gave him unconditional love. Or tough love, I am not too subtle. It was my intention to point him in the direction of book one, such that he could understand why he chose to confront a cyclist. Book two, would help him understand how to deal with the cyclist.

To summarise, read book one to deepen your understanding of yourself.
Read book two, not available yet, to deepen your awareness of people you interact with.

What should have happened, had my friend read book one, was that he would have had a brief conversation with the cyclist. This conversation would either have been productive and satisfactory or my friend would have simply ended an unproductive conversation. That is it. Not spend hours feeling angry, upset or irritated.

Had he read book two, my friend would have increased his chances, dramatically, of have a productive conversation with the cyclist.

I have even had productive conversations with the police. This is after they have repeatedly given me an order that I refused to carry out. This was a while back and I did write a blog post about it.

I hope this gives you an idea of the personal power you can develop. My friend has a confrontation with a cyclist which upsets him. I have a potential clash with six policeman that never happens. We have a productive conversation that ends with me doing exactly what I said I was going to do.

I expect to get far more powerful following the practices developed and discussed in book one, two and three. Far more powerful.

People will, from time to time, attempt to confront me. Very quickly, we have a productive conversation. Not every time, sometimes I merely goad them for my own amusement. I ought not too take pleasure in this. I can't always help myself. I simply accept that I am a flawed human being, not a robot. I will continue my journey, intending to spend an ever increasing proportion of my time as a Mindful Being. Writing the trilogy will help me enormously. (As would reading it if somebody else had already written it.)

Currently, only book one has been published. The other two only exist in my mind.

You all take care.

Introduction

A mindful being is one which continually practices being exactly what they believe they are.

If that sounds odd or simply does not feel right then read my three 'mindful' books or do something else with your time.

Now that was quite harsh. It may be good advice but it wasn't given with concern for the reader. It was the best that I could do when I wrote it, so I need not choose to feel guilty about it. I have a moment, so I will have another go.

If the opening statement is uncomfortable or new to you, then perhaps reading my three 'mindful' books will be a beneficial experience for you.

For those reading on, thank you. I do appreciate you spending your most valuable resource, time, reading this blog.

This blog is merely support material for the three 'mindful' books. I will simply assume that you have made a choice to read, talk about or completely ignore the books this blog supports.

The books were intentionally short. I expended a vast amount time making them short and easy to read. The concepts are simple but your time is best spent practicing being the real you rather than reading three several hundred page books.

Some people do want more, so here it is. Some people don't like paying for books or information, you are most welcome here.

I will write here whatever I feel like writing, whenever I feek like writing about the concepts introduced by my three books and perhaps tie those concepts in with my two other blogs. If you want to read more, or you want more without extending payment, then go to davidwatkinson.blogspot.com or davidwatkinson1.blogspot.com

Once again, thanks for your time. I do appreciate it.

At this point, I would like to point out that I have not written anything yet or ever published a book. I  am giving myself a year, to see what I can achieve. In that one year, I am fully confident that I will do my best with whatever resources I have available. There is no success or failure. I am merely interested in experiencing a year as a writer. Writing and publishing three books is a huge undertaking, of dream like qualities. It doesn't seem possible. It feels extraordinary. It feels like a journey I want, need and desire to take.

This really is a key point. In a years time, having three published books or not is not significant. The task here, is to both appreciate and enjoy spending one year as a writer.
